Agrointroductions Ghana (AiG) has been named one of 25 recipients of the Emerging Climate Champions Award, a $25 million global initiative supporting youth-led organisations advancing climate solutions around the world. Each award recipient will receive a flexible, multiyear gift of $1 million USD to advance their work and contribute to a more resilient and sustainable future.

This recognition marks an important milestone for AiG and reinforces the importance of locally led climate action, community participation, and innovative approaches to environmental conservation and sustainable development.

About the Emerging Climate Champions Award

The Emerging Climate Champions Award is a global open call designed to identify and support youth-led organisations working to address climate challenges in their communities and beyond. The initiative attracted applications from organisations based in 108 countries, reflecting the growing role of young people in developing solutions to the climate crisis.

The selection process involved multiple stages, including administrative screening, a participatory review process, and an external evaluation panel comprising experts in climate-related fields, philanthropy, and related areas.

The initiative is funded by the Enlight Foundation and The Patchwork Collective and managed by Lever for Change, a nonprofit organisation that connects donors with organisations developing bold solutions to pressing global challenges.

About Agrointroductions Ghana

Established in 2014, Agrointroductions Ghana is a Ghanaian environmental organisation dedicated to advancing climate resilience, biodiversity conservation, and sustainable development through science-based, community-centred, and economically viable solutions.

AiG works at the intersection of ecological research, ecosystem restoration, nature-based solutions, sustainable natural resource management, and environmental finance. The organisation seeks to translate conservation efforts into measurable ecological, social, and economic benefits.

Through strategic partnerships, innovative conservation financing, and community-led initiatives, AiG promotes responsible environmental stewardship while empowering local communities, particularly women and young people, to participate meaningfully in conservation, strengthen their livelihoods, and benefit equitably from the sustainable use of natural resources.

A Recognition of Community-Led Climate Action

Commenting on the recognition, Abdullah Hamza, Chief Executive Officer of Agrointroductions Ghana, emphasised the importance of empowering communities to lead climate solutions that respond to their lived experiences and local realities.

“We believe that lasting climate action is sustained by the people with daily lived experiences of its impacts. At AiG, we are committed to empowering local communities to become leaders of change, developing solutions that respond to their realities, and protecting the natural resources that sustain their livelihoods. This recognition reinforces our belief that, when CSOs are supported, they can drive meaningful community-led climate action, and build a more resilient future for generations to come.”

Joining the Bold Solutions Network

As part of the award, the 25 recipient organisations, alongside a cohort of top-ranking applicants from the open call, have joined Lever for Change’s Bold Solutions Network. The network brings together vetted organisations with the potential to secure additional funding, build connections, and expand the impact of their work.

Membership provides an opportunity for participating organisations to become part of a wider community of changemakers working to advance solutions to some of the world’s most pressing challenges.

For Agrointroductions Ghana, this recognition highlights the importance of supporting locally driven environmental initiatives and strengthening the role of communities in building climate resilience. It also underscores the need for sustained investment in organisations working to protect ecosystems, promote biodiversity, and support sustainable livelihoods.

Looking Ahead

Agrointroductions Ghana remains committed to advancing climate resilience, restoring ecosystems, conserving biodiversity, and promoting sustainable natural resource management in partnership with local communities and stakeholders.

The Emerging Climate Champions Award recognises the importance of this work and the wider movement of youth-led organisations contributing to climate solutions globally. AiG looks forward to continuing its efforts to support community-centred approaches that deliver lasting environmental and social benefits.
